All Saint’s Has a New Rector!
After 6 months of diligent and prayerful searching, the search committee recommended and the Vestry approved calling theRev. Belinda Snyder to be the next rector of All Saints’. Rev. Snyder was ordained on Sept. 10, 2002 at Good Shepherd, Forrest City, AR and soon beganserving Calvary Church in Osceola, where she’s been ever since. During that time, she also served as Chaplain and Dean of the Chapel at Memphis Theological Seminary. We have received the Letter of Approval from the Bishop and she will conduct her first service here at All Saints’ on May 17th.
Rev. Snyder, who goes by “Bindy”, has a very strong musical background and enjoys teaching, believing in a strong Christian formation program; most of all, she believes in the importance of loving and supportive pastoral care.
She received her BA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and an MA in Speech and Theatre from the University of Memphis. She holds an MAR and an MDiv from Memphis Theological Seminary. Her Clinical Pastoral Education was at Methodist Hospital, Memphis. She did postgraduate studies at the University of Wales, Lampeter, the General Theological Seminary and currently is a Doctoral candidate at Sewanee.
She is on the Board of the National Episcopal Historians and Archivists and served as National President of the Episcopal Women’s History Project. She is an Associate of the Community of St. Mary at Sewanee and Diocesan Chaplain to the West Tennessee Daughters of the King. A life-long Memphian and long-time communicant of St. Mary’s Cathedral, she served on numerous committees and commissions in the Diocese of West Tennessee and in Arkansas. She has three grown children, Maggie, Max and Alexandra.
Canon Somodevilla summed it up very well when he said for us to “Enjoy the fact that All Saints’ will have stability for the foreseeable future.” Please be sure to join us on May 17th to warmly welcome Bindy to our congregation. |
